My Internship Abroad
Alicante, Spain

In Spring 2025 (Jan 27–Apr 11), I interned at the Centro Superior de Idiomas at the University of Alicante, getting a true end-to-end look at professional translation in a primarily Spanish-speaking office. Day to day, I handled project intake and tracking, coordinated with in-house and external translators, kept clients updated, and supported billing. Over the term I managed 23 translation projects, many requiring sworn-translation certifications (e.g., birth certificates, academic records, powers of attorney), which sharpened my precision with legal and financial terminology. I also developed standardized email templates to improve clarity and response time across recurring client scenarios.
Beyond project work, I contributed to the implementation of a new online database that centralized requests and documents. I troubleshot synchronization and data-entry issues, documented a cleaner intake flow, and provided brief training to staff and fellow interns. During high-volume weeks, I implemented a personal tracker and daily prioritization routine to keep deadlines on track, and I used weekly review meetings to surface small process improvements that reduced back-and-forth and made status more transparent. The experience strengthened my skills in bilingual communication, project management, and client service within a multicultural office setting.
